Note on Husband: Richard David Baker ASHWORTH

Agnes was active in the Hickling WI, being its president for five years from its re-establishment in 1947, retiring on health grounds although she was soon back as vice president. Unlike his father, Richard was a Conservative supporter, and he became Chair of Hickling association from its establishment in 1948, representing the Cropwell Division in the County Council from 1948, by which time he had been on Bingham Rural District Council for eight years and was Chairman of the Hickling Parish Council. Richard and Agnes both took the role of Father Christmas at different school breaking-up parties. Richard was Chairman of the Hickling Cricket Club and Agnes gave a Rose Bowl as a trophy for the British Legion Horticultural Show.

Following the death of his father in September 1950 Richard took over RE Ashworth & Sons and remained with the firm until he retired in April 1985.
